DEVOTIONAL STUDIES
Our goal is to provide Studies that you may engage with during your spiritual
walk. This web site is not designed to “build a case” for Christianity, but rather
to provide food and nourishment to those who already believe. What does it
mean to be a Christian? How does a "Child of God" respond to pain or
suffering? How do we stay focused on God while living in such a secular
environment?
Our prayer and goal is to humbly offer an opportunity to challenge and stretch
believers. We believe that “being a Christian” denotes an attitude of study and
a constant desire to know our God better. It is to that end that we present the
great truths of the Bible found from a deep, exegetical study. We present
Scripture without an agenda in order to provide challenging principles that will
result in an honest evaluation of our walk with God and the world in which we
have been placed.
Stringing Pearls
Examining the great truths of the Bible to see how they fit together as God's Divine Plan.
"Stringing Pearls"
When it comes to spiritual matters and dogma, we should consider issues from the vantage point
of the entire Scripture. "How does a particular thought weigh in against the whole counsel of
God?" This panoramic approach is similar to a method of preaching and study used by Rabbis
before Christ. They called this rabbinical device "charaz," which meant "stringing together."
A speaker would select a theme and then cite verses from different parts of the Law, Prophets,
and Psalms as part of his teaching. It became known as "stringing pearls" because Scripture
verses were thought of as valuable "pearls" of wisdom. By "stringing together" verses relevant
to his theme, the speaker would create a spiritual necklace of thought and teaching. Charaz was
a favored mode of teaching used also by Christ, Paul, and the author of the book of Hebrews.
